Associate Scientist Bremen International Graduate School

Bremen International Graduate School for Marine Sciences. Global Change in the Marine Realm. Funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments this Graduate School aims at educating young scientists in the field of marine sciences. Within a global-change framework these encompass the natural sciences as well as the humanities. Besides becoming experts in their special field the PhD students will get a solid background across many disciplines* of marine sciences.

The Graduate School offers for its research area „Challenges to Society“ the following open position- under the condition of job release- Associate Scientist (TV-L 13)

This position is initially offered for two years starting at September 1, 2008, with a possibility for extension. Applicants are required to have a PhD in one of the following fields:

Social Sciences, History, or Law.

The main tasks of the Associate Scientists will be to stimulate interdisciplinary exchange within the Graduate School, in establishing topical courses and monthly PhD workshops, and in supporting the PhD students. In addition, the Associate Scientists are expected to develop their own research projects within the thematic framework of the school. PhD positions at Zhejiang University

There are several Ph.D. student position openings at the Department of Information Science & Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China, http://www.zju.edu.cn/english/ & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangzhou). These Ph.D. studentships & scholarship are provided for prospective international students overseas (i. e. non-Chinese nationals) by Chinese Government and Zhejiang University jointly, which are planned to begin on or around September 2008 with a studying period up to 3-5 years.

The basic conditions for the Ph.D. studentships & scholarship are as following:

1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiments, fees for internship, fee for basic learning materials and fee for intramural accommodation;

2. Living allowance comparable to the local living standard in China (e. g. Hangzhou);

Vice Chancellor's International Scholarships 2008

De Montfort University is committed to supporting international students to benefit from study in the UK. For courses starting in September 2008, De Montfort University’s Vice Chancellor is delighted to offer scholarships of £2000 each.

The £2000 scholarships are equivalent to a reduction of around 20% on the full tuition fees, and will be paid towards the full tuition fees of overseas-status students from any country in the world who wish to study any of the following types of courses at De Montfort University, Leicester:

  • Full-time undergraduate degrees (BA/BSc) in any subject
  • Full-time Postgraduate Diplomas and Masters courses (PGDip/MA/MSc/MBA/LLM) in any subject
  • Full-time MPhil/PhD research degrees in any subject

The scholarships are available for courses starting in September 2008 only (or between September 2008 and June 2009 for MPhil/PhD research degrees). The £2000 scholarship will be made as a one-off payment and will be deducted from the full tuition fee at the beginning of the first (or only) year of study. DESCRIPTION

It is the mission of Hawai‘i Pacific University to prepare students for community and industry leadership. For this reason, we have established a scholarship to recognize outstanding international students who have the potential to become leaders in their respective communities.

The Undergraduate International Scholarship is a partial tuition waiver ranging from 20% to 50% of tuition. It is renewable each year until completion of an undergraduate degree as long as the student is in good academic standing.

Eligible applicants are new, full-time degree-seeking students who have applied directly to the University and have been accepted.

REQUIREMENTS

Chateaubriand Fellowships

Chateaubriand Fellowships allow you to:

  • conduct research in France and/or
  • work under the supervision of a professor in a French university or research institution and/or
  • attend seminars of a specific professor at a French university

Each year, France offers Chateaubriand Fellowships to doctorate students in various fields: anthropology, art history, economics, history, international relations, linguistics, literature, musicology, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, etc.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Ph.D. in the Humanities or Social Sciences
  • Candidates do not have to be U.S. citizens but must be enrolled in an American university*
  • Candidates must obtain a letter of invitation from a French university, a Grande Ecole or a research institution before applying
  • No particular level of French is required, though most students need a certain level in order to conduct their research (* French citizens are not allowed to apply)

Helen M. Woodruff Fellowship

DESCRIPTION

Amount: $10,000

A pre- or post-doctoral fellowship for study of archaeology and classical studies has been established by the Institute at the American Academy in Rome. UNU-WIDER Ph.D Research Internship

The UNU-WIDER Ph.D Research Internship Programme aims to provide Ph.D (doctoral degree) students registered at a university and similar research institutions the opportunity (1) to utilise the resources and facilities available at UNU-WIDER for their Ph.D thesis research; (2) to produce papers suitable for publication in the Research Paper series and elsewhere; and (3) to work jointly with UNU-WIDER researchers in areas of mutual interest.

SELECTION CRITERIA (ESSENTIAL)

Applicants should

(a) be currently enrolled into a Ph.D programme.
(b) have shown ability to conduct research on developing or transition economies. Candidates working in other social sciences may apply but should keep in mind that UNU-WIDER is an economics-focused institute.
(c) be fluent in oral and written English.
(d) possess good quantitative and statistical analysis skills.
